1 - Reflection on Previous I Search Experiences- Thurs. April 3
Entry 1
1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done?
The Presidential Caucus, Beyond Hammurabi, the Labyrinth Poject
2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you?
Looking things up on the computer.
3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative?
The Presidential Caucus was a sucess because I had a good website to find my information on.
2 - Reflection on Webbing Process (due Tuesday, April 8)
1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because:
I already knew what I wanted to do
3 - Why I Chose This Topic and What I Know About My Topic (due Tuesday, April 8)
1. Topic:
Orangutans
2. Why you chose it:
We heard people talk about it, and I chose it as my topic for speech class, so I already have information on it.
3. What you already know about your topic:
there are 50 to 60 thousand orangutans left
they live on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra
the main reason they are endangered is because of deforestation
4 - Pre-Notetaking Activity - in class (due Wednesday, April 9)
1. Brainstorm a list of questions related to your topic.
Why are orangutans endangered?
How many are there left?
Where do they live?
How would the loss of orangutans affect me?
How long have onangutans been endangered?
How can we get orangutans off the endangered species list and stop illegal logging?
If we continue all these harmful things at this rate, when will the orangutans be extinct?
What are the Presiden tand people of Indonesia doing to save the orangutans and the tropical rainforests?
How many orangutans are killed per year?
How does the loss of tropical rainforests and orangutans affect the world?
How have people impacted the orangutan population?
How many acres of tropical rainforest is destroyed each year?
Why are tropical rainforests important?
5 - Reflections on Pre-Notetaking - for homework (due Wednesday, April 9)
1. Describe how the pre-notetaking sheet helped you find both focus for your topic and research questions to investigate. Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas?
I got to write down all of my questions so I don't forget them.
I found it relatively hard to come up with one question that could encompass all of my questions.
6 - Search Log (due Thursday, April 10)
1. What have I learned today?
I learned where orangutans live, how many of them there are, and why they are endangered.
2. What problems have I had?
I had trouble managing my time, because making the bib for every page takes so long.
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
I will try to find the answers to more than one question per article.
4. What will I do next?
I will continue to research my project.

How much tropical rainforest has been destroyed and how to put the url in my notecards for some websites
2. What problems have I had?
I have had problems finding some answers to questions
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
I will use a different website
4. What will I do next?
I will continue to research my project.

Why tropical rainforests are important
2. What problems have I had?
